Altoona (WEAU)-Officers arrest a man for fraud after he approached businesses and asked if they’d sponsor a children’s cancer run/walk.

The Altoona Police Department says it arrested 41-year-old Sean Kean Davis on Thursday for multiple violations of theft by fraud. Officers say Davis was approaching businesses requesting they sponsor a children’s cancer run/walk and accepted money from them. The department says Davis was using the name of a legitimate charitable organization without their knowledge or permission.

The department says after an investigation, it was found that multiple businesses were victims of this fraud in the City of Altoona and the City of Eau Claire. Both departments are looking to identify any additional victims.

Davis is currently being held in the Eau Claire County Jail.

Any citizen with information is asked to contact their local law enforcement agency. Altoona victims should contact Investigator Scott Kelley at (715) 839-6090.
