CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WEAU) -- Organizers of Oktoberfest in Chippewa Falls gave back to the community Wednesday.

The 2013 Festmeister and Festmeisterin, Dean and Betty White, presented more than $20,000 in donations to 35 community groups.

The fest's planning committee says the donations are in appreciation for the time the groups donated during this falls 11th annual Oktoberfest.

The honorary hosts of this year's fest say none of the fun is possible without the help of the volunteers.

Dean White, the Oktoberfest Festmeister says, "We both volunteered in various groups, with our kids growing up here and we realized that Chippewa is strong because of that. I mean so much of what happens here happens because of the different volunteer groups."

Since the beginning of Oktoberfest in 2003, the planning committee has donated more than $220,000 to local community groups and non-profits.
