MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The longtime president of the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce has died.

David Olson died Wednesday night after struggling with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Chamber of Commerce staff confirmed his death. Olson had been doing well but was hospitalized over the weekend, his family wrote on his CaringBridge website.

Olson had served as president of the Chamber, a lobbying force for business at the state Capitol, since 1991. He previously worked for several local business chambers around the Twin Cities, according to his LinkedIn page.

Minnesota lawmakers are taking to Twitter to mourn his passing. In a statement, Gov. Mark Dayton says Olson was a gentleman and an excellent advocate for the 2,300-plus businesses the Chamber represents.
