One man injured in car crash, alcohol to blame

Town of Greenwood, Wi. -- Vernon County Sheriff John B. Spears reports a single-vehicle crash occurred Saturday evening, July 26, 2014, at approximately 8:50 PM, in the Town of Greenwood, south of Hillsboro, WI.

Michael H. Antill, age 24, of Hillsboro, WI was operating a vehicle southbound on State Highway 80, just north of Beaver Creek Drive when he lost control went off the road on the right crossed back across the north bound lane. The vehicle overturned a couple times ejecting a passenger, Michael J. Hoeppner, age 30, of Sullivan, WI.

The vehicle came to rest, upright, in the eastbound ditch. Both Michael H. Antill, and Michael J. Hoeppner were transported to St. Joseph Hospital in Hillsboro by Hillsboro Ambulance. Michael Antill was treated and released and Michael J. Hoeppner was transported to Gundersen Lutheran and is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Michael Antill was wearing his seatbelt; evidence suggests that Michael J. Hoeppner was not.

Assisting the Sheriff’s Office at the scene were the Hillsboro Fire Department, Hillsboro Ambulance, Hillsboro Police Department, and the Wisconsin State Patrol..

The accident remains under investigation by the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office .
