NEW INFORMATION: Name released in deadly crash in Barron County

BARRON COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU) -- UPDATE: The Wisconsin State Patrol has released the name of the person killed in a crash in Barron County.

She's identified as 18-year-old Kiandra Schaffer of Birchwood.
The crash happened on Highway 48, north of Rice Lake, Friday afternoon.

The state patrol says Schaffer was driving a pickup truck and was trying to pass an SUV when the two vehicles collided. The driver and passenger of the SUV were not hurt.

Visitation for Kiandra is scheduled for Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie. The funeral service is Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boyceville.


BARRON COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU) -- One person was killed after a crash in Barron County Friday.

The Wisconsin State Patrol says it happened on Highway 48, a mile south of Mikana, near Rice Lake.

Officers say driver of a Ford F-250 was trying to pass 2002 Ford Explorer. Officers say in the process the right rear corner of the Ford F-250 collided with the left front corner of Ford Explorer.

Drivers of both trucks lost control and went off the road.

The driver of Ford F-250 was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown out of the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and passenger of the Ford Explorer were buckled and were not hurt.
