Oscar Mayer Wienermobile rolls through Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – A hotdog on wheels was rolling through town in Eau Claire as part of one of its stops along the Hotdog Highway.

The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile stopped at Eau Claire's Mega Foods east grocery store on Saturday.
It’s the first stop along the tour. The 27-foot long dog averages about 500 miles a week traveling to different cities.

Visitors who stopped to check out the wienermobile toured the vehicle and met the drivers.

Amanda Vazquez just finished her wienermobile training in Madison.
"Oscar Mayer is a staple in many people’s home and that’s what we want to be and we hope that you get that homey feel when you see the wienermobile. You know people are excited to see and let them know that we are about family and having fun,” said Vazquez.

There are six wienermobiles on the road across the country. Amanda and her driving partner are headed southwest from Eau Claire.

The wienermobile will be at Mega West on Sunday.
