Park Board looks at improvements for Irvine Park Zoo

(WEAU) - The park board in Chippewa Falls talked about the future of the Irvine Park Zoo Monday night.

The board saw the latest layout design of a renovation worth about one and a half million dollars. The improvements would include a welcome center, a new small mammals building, a new aviary exhibit and new restrooms.

Chippewa Falls Director of Parks, Recreation, and Forestry, Dick Hebert says the community's support of past projects has him hopeful they'll be able to raise the money for these improvements. "We have great community support in Chippewa Falls for any time there's a project and I’m hoping the community will step forward and make this wonderful project happen,” Hebert told us.

He says they hope to have the final master plan completed by March, and to begin fundraising in April.
