CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WEAU) -- A pilot was reportedly hurt after crashing his plane into Duncan Creek.
It happened near Tilden on Sunday afternoon. The Chippewa County Sheriff's Office says it appears John Davis, 59, of Chippewa Falls was trying to take off from a grass runway. It says the plane may have been off course or out of control when it hit several trees on an island in Duncan Creek. The impact spun the airplane, which ended up in Duncan Creek. Deputies also found that fuel was pouring out of the plane. Crews called the Federal Aviation Administration and the Department of Natural Resources.
A witness told deputies that Davis injured his back in the crash.
