Police: Crime down in Eau Claire in 2012
(WEAU) - Crime was down in Eau Claire last year according to numbers released by the Eau Claire Police Department.
The department says the 2012 crime statistics were the 3rd lowest when compared over the past 34 years. While overall crime was down, there were 4 murders in the city in 2012 -- which was more than the previous 9 years combined.
Among other crimes, there were 268 residential burglaries, which was slightly down from 2011.
The most common crime in the city was shoplifting, with 450 cases reported.
