Sparta, Wis. (WEAU) -- Police have arrested a man in connection with a home burglary that happened last month in Sparta.
Sparta police say the man is 18-year-old Michael Sundberg from Tomah. He was arrested Thursday when an off-duty police officer noticed him walking in town. The off-duty officer notified police who chased him on foot until he was arrested a few blocks down the road.
The burglary happened on August 30th around 3:00 a.m. at a Sparta home. Police say one of the people living there tried confronting Sundberg while another person called 911. Sundberg was able to escape.
A second burglary was reported the same day at about 6:15 p.m.
Sundberg was taken to the Monroe County jail. He faces additional charges for other crimes that happened in the Tomah area.
