On Friday January 4, 2013, a search warrant was executed at 113 1/2 E. Oak Street in the City of Sparta where an operational Methamphetamine Lab was found.
The search warrant was a result of an ongoing drug investigation between the Sparta Police Department, Monroe County Sheriff's Department and the West Central Metropolitan Enforcement Group.
With the assistance from the Department of Criminal Investigations
(DCI) the search warrant was executed and numerous toxic chemicals were found inside this apartment. Due to the potential danger that methamphetamine labs pose to the
public, safety precautions were taken. Specialized personnel from the DCI Meth Lab team removed the chemicals from the building and rendered the area safe.
The Drug Enforcement Administration, (DEA) was also contacted for removal of those toxic
chemical mixtures found at the scene. The Sparta Area Fire Department and the Sparta Area Ambulance were placed on standby during the operation.
No residents were displaced during the execution of the search warrant and no further danger exists to the
Arrested during the search warrant was Greg Arnold, age 28 from Sparta and Daniel Klinkenberg, age 27 from the La Crosse area.
Both are being held in the Monroe County
Jail where they are expected to be charged by the Monroe County District Attorney's Office on numerous drug related charges.
This case remains under investigation.
