Police search for suspect in New Richmond armed robbery


Tuesday, February 18th 2014 at approximately 5:35 p.m., New Richmond Officers were dispatched to the “Cash Store” located at 1621 Dorset Lane for a report of an “Armed Robbery”.

Arriving Officers talked with a female employee of the Cash Store, who reported that a light skinned black male, entered the store displaying a dark colored handgun demanding money.  The store employee complied with the requests of the suspect.  Prior to leaving the store, the suspect secured the employees hands’.

Once the suspect left the store, the employee managed to free herself and called 911.  An undetermined amount of cash was taken.

The suspect was described as being a light skinned black male, approximately 6’ tall, mid to late 20’s, shoulder length dreadlocks, wearing a black hooded sweat shirt or jacket with a gray design across the back shoulders and down both arms, black and white Air Jordan shoes, dark colored hat with a red flat brim with possibly the letter “A” on the front and a smaller white symbol on both sides and dark colored pants with a brown colored belt.

The suspect exited the store and headed south on foot.

Attached to this news release are three photo’s of the suspect, the first two as the suspect enters the store and the third one of him leaving the store.

This incident remains under investigation by New Richmond Police Department Detectives.  Anyone with information regarding this “armed robbery” is asked to call the New Richmond Police Department and talk with either Det. Veronica Koehler or Det. Craig Yehlik, at 715-246-6667.


NEW RICHMOND, Wis. (WEAU) -- Investigators are trying to find a suspect in an armed robbery.

New Richmond police say a man robbed the Cash Store on Dorset Lane in New Richmond around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. Investigators say they talked to an employee, who said that the man came into the store, showed a dark-colored handgun, and demanded money. Officers say the employee gave him an undetermined amount of cash, and then the suspect "secured the employees' hands." The man went out of the store, and headed south on foot. A worker got free, then called for help.
