FAIRCHILD, Wis. (RELEASE FROM XCEL ENERGY)-- As part of an extensive upgrade to the electric system serving the Fairchild area, Xcel Energy is planning to interrupt electric service the morning of Friday, Oct. 11. The outage will begin at 8 a.m. and power is expected to be restored by 1 p.m. The outage will affect about 400 customers in the area.
"As part of our mission to ensure reliable service for the long term, we are upgrading our system so our customers can count on electricity when and where they need it," said Brian Amundson, Xcel Energy system planning and strategy manager.
About 50 Xcel Energy linemen will travel to Fairchild to complete the conversion work. As this work is performed, residents will see crews working in the area, as well as in Xcel Energy's substation east of Fairchild. To maintain safety, residents in the area are asked to respect the work zone protection areas and use caution.
Xcel Energy worked with the Fairchild Elementary School to schedule the outage when school is not in session due to an in-service day. While the outage was timed to minimize disruption, Xcel Energy apologizes for any inconvenience caused by the upgrade work.
