Power restored to 3,000 customers in Rusk Co.

LADYSMITH, Wis. (WEAU) – Lights are back on for more than thousands of customers in Rusk County, after losing power Saturday afternoon.

Xcel Energy says around 3,000 and businesses lost power earlier in the afternoon. It affected customers in Ladysmith, Sheldon, Conrath and Bruce.

An Xcel Energy spokesperson say a transmission line failure caused the outage. Power was out for around 2 hours and 30 minutes.

Xcel lineman patrolled power lines looking for anything visually wrong, then turned the power back on.

Xcel is still looking into what made the transmission line fail.
