NEW INFORMATION: Proposal to sell Town of Union ski jumping complex moves forward

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- A proposal to sell the property that houses the Silver Mine Ski Jumping Complex will move forward.

On Monday night, the Eau Claire Plan Commission recommended that the land be declared excess. That means the city has no use for it, and it can be sold. Plan Commission member Kathy Mitchell says the recommendation comes with a condition. If the ski club were to stop jumping, ownership of the land would revert back to the City of Eau Claire. The move by the Plan Commission does not determine who would buy the land, or for how much.

The Eau Claire Ski Club wrote a letter to the city, asking to buy the property for $1. The proposal now goes to the city council, which would make the decision on a potential sale of the property.
