Recent storm contributing to more shoveling fatigue for Western Wisconsin this winter

The light and fluffy snow stacked up for us in Western Wisconsin making for yet another day of shoveling and plowing. With Friday's winter storm that puts us up around 40 inches of snow for the winter of 2012-2013. That 40 inches have been spread over many, many days. For many it's leading to shoveling fatigue.

Last winter we had less than half the snow we've seen so far this winter. For Julie Pinchart it's a distant memory. "I liked it a lot better last year. I don't like all the shoveling every other day," says Pinchart. "I just wish it would all come at once and then be done," says neighbor down the street Tammy Pond. She says her kids are enjoying all the snow but for her personally...May cannot come soon enough.

"I’m very excited for spring. We just booked plane tickets to Florida," says Pond.

If it seems like it's snowed basically every day; you're pretty much. In the month of February there have been only five days that have seen absolutely no snow.

"I just don't really like the cold temperatures but I don't mind the snow. I got a snow blower so i can move it pretty quick if I have to," says Stan Demotts who lives in Eau Claire.

For Demotts, the snow makes for a difficult commute, but he and his family are avid snow shoe-ers and he says the key to getting through winter is just getting outside and enjoying it.

"I guess we need it for the drought, so it's probably going to be good for everybody. We just had a sprinkler system put in our yard so hopefully I won’t have to use it this year as much," says Dermotts.

That's all well and good but for Julie....bring on spring! Unfortunately I had to break the news to her that more snow could be in the forecast early next week. "Bad news. I'm hoping it just doesn't materialize," says Pinchart.

It really has been snowy. We're 53 days into 2013 and only sixteen days have seen no snow. Sure March is right around the corner. It'll warm up and the snow will eventually go away, but I wouldn't count on the kind of March we saw last year when the snow pack was gone March 11 and five days later we hit 80 degrees in Eau Claire.
