EAU CLAIRE, Wis (WEAU)—One person is without a home after an apartment fire early Sunday morning. The Eau Claire Fire Department responded to a fire at a 4-plex apartment complex on Kappus Drive at 4:18 am, Sunday.

Fire Crews say the fire was contained in one room in Apt 2 of the building and was put out in about 10 minutes. Crews say one person was treated at the scene for anxiety. The fire is under investigation.

Mahdie Al-Habarneh who lives in the building says the thick smoke inside made it hard to breath and very difficult to get out of the building.

"My first reaction was: as soon as my family was out of the building, get everyone else out of the building. I didn't care about their belongings, as long as our physical beings is OK, than everything is good with me, and that's all that mattered to me," said Al-Habarneh.

The neighbor who lives directly above the fire source told us- he and his wife didn't hear the alarm and it is Al-Habarneh's shouting and knocking on doors that woke them up. All residents got out safely with no injuries. Crews say one person was treated at the scene for anxiety. The fire is under investigation
