Redcross volunteers return from helping with Super-storm Sandy

EAU CLAIRE, Wis (WEAU)--An Eau Claire Red Cross volunteer returned last night after six days in New York helping out in the recovery efforts with Sandy.
Dave Nuesse left for New York last Saturday to do damage assessment in Manhattan and Staten Island.
He was one of about 40 volunteers to first examine homes to see if people could survive in the current conditions.
He says he came across more than 81-thousand homes with damages. With six thousand Red Cross volunteers still there, and more than 3-point-five million meals served, there's a great need for donations in one of the most expensive responses in Red Cross history.

“On one street, every single home had been washed from its foundation. It reinforces the need for people to support the red cross through financial contributions," said Nuesse
