NEW INFORMATION: Outage affects dozens of Xcel customers in Chippewa Falls area

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Crews have responded to the scene of a power outage that's affecting nearly 300 customers in the Chippewa Falls area.

An Xcel Energy spokeswoman tells WEAU 13 News that crews are there assessing the situation, and starting to restore power. There's no word on when power might be restored.

Another outage in the Water Street area of Eau Claire is affecting more than 300 customers. Yet another outage on the west side of Eau Claire is affecting more than 60 customers. The company believes the outages are weather-related.
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) --Dozens of customers are reportedly out of power in the Chippewa Falls area.

Xcel Energy's outage map indicates several outages in the area, one of which affects more than 150 customers. The map shows that many of the affected customers lost power just after 6:00 p.m. Thursday. It also says that the company is "currently assessing the situation. The map also shows an outage affecting more than 300 customers on the south side of Eau Claire that is being restored, and another on the west side of town affecting more than 60 customers. That outage is also being assessed.

A message left with the company seeking further information was not immediately returned.
