MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Republican Rep. Pat Strachota, of West Bend, will not seek re-election after 10 years in the Legislature.
Strachota announced on Monday that she was stepping down at the end of the year.
Strachota says she is retiring to spend more time with her 90-year-old mother.
Prior to serving in the Legislature, Strachota spent 16 years as a Washington County Board supervisor.
Strachota is a member of the Legislature's powerful budget-writing Joint Finance Committee.
The Assembly is currently controlled by Republicans with a 60-39 majority.
