EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- He has helped veterans get the services they need for nearly 40 years and on Sunday, the men and women he helped came out to congratulate the Eau Claire Co. Veteran's Service officer on his retirement.
Clif Sorenson's retirement party was held fittingly at the American Legion Post in Eau Claire.
Friends and local politicians including Rep. Dana Wachs, Congressman Ron Kind and Sen. Ron Johnson's office presented Sorenson with awards for his service.
Sorenson said even in his retirement, he'll continue to work for veterans.
"I plan to work on the behalf of disenfranchised veterans, homeless veterans and formerly incarcerated veterans trying to make their transition back into society so I'll keep my fingers into everything as an advocate on the behalf of veterans the advocacy goes on and on," said Sorenson.
Sorenson officially retired on July 7th after serving at the Eau Claire County office for 14 years.
