Ringing for more than a decade

EAU CLAIRE, Wis (WEAU)--You can always tell Christmas is near when you hear the sound of ringing bells.
Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign volunteers are encouraging all of us to give a little this season.

81-year old don Enerson has been volunteering with Salvation Army for 15 years and for the next few weeks will spend 116 hours ringing the bell.

"Time goes fast if you are busy," said Don.

He says over the years he has seen more and more people willing to donate.

"A lot of people tell me they needed help earlier and now they are trying to return the favor," said Don.

Across town, Tim Coburn spends a few hours a week spreading Christmas cheer.

"I'm glad to do it," said Tim.

Tim started volunteering back in 2000. He says over the years, he has met many people who have benefited from the Salvation Army.

"Every year I hear are least one story about how the Salvation Army has saved someone’s life," said Tim.

And it's that spirit of giving and the season that keeps coming back.

"I get Merry Christmas wished to me about a two to three thousand times before Christmas so by that time Christmas comes I’ve already got my presents," said Tim.

The Salvation Army is still in need of volunteers.
