Roggensack: Wis. Supreme Court not dysfunctional

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- The two challengers in an upcoming state Supreme Court election say the current court is dysfunctional and needs a new face on the bench, while the incumbent says the perception of incivility between the justices is overblown.

Justice Pat Roggensack, law professor Ed Fallone and consumer lawyer Vince Megna appeared at a candidate form Thursday in Milwaukee.

Fallone cited a 2011 altercation in which one justice allegedly wrapped his hands around the neck of another while Roggensack and others were in the room. Fallone says the court can't be effective when the justices can't get along.

And Megna says the justices are good people who just can't cure their divisiveness.

But Roggensack says things aren't so bad. She says she wouldn't be running for a second 10-year term if there were really that much acrimony.
