Romney campaign advisor Buchanan stops at UW-Eau Claire

(WEAU) - A well-known conservative political commentator stopped in Eau Claire Monday night.

Bay Buchanan spoke on the UW-Eau Claire campus. Buchanan served as U.S. Treasurer under President Ronald Reagan and is currently an advisor to the Romney campaign.

She spoke to the group about her experience in the Reagan administration, the "war on women," and the state of the economy.

Buchanan says she thinks college is an important time for young conservatives. She told us "I think the key for young conservatives is to recognize the opportunity they have. I mean this is a training ground for them to have a chance to challenge the establishment and their view points and to see themselves express what their views are, what their beliefs are.”

Buchanan was invited to speak by the UW-Eau Claire college republican group.
