Run from the Cops fundraiser money donated to local charities

ONALASKA, (WEAU)- The Onalaska Professional Police Association presented two giant checks to two local charities after raising more money than ever with it’s annual “Run from the Cops” 5k run walk event.

A $3,000 check was presented to the Onalaska/Holmen Food Basket, and $1,000 dollars was given to the Santa’s List program to help families buy presents this holiday season.

“To just see the families that these events benefit. It’s really fun for us to have a different kind of contact that we generally have to have as law enforcement agents," said Onalaska Officer Lisa Gervig.

Director of the Onalaska/Holmen Food Basket said that with every $1 dollar donated they are able to purchase $5 dollars worth of food. The $3,000 dollar check will actually end up purchasing $15,000 dollars worth of food for the community.
