ST. PAUL, Minn. (WEAU) – The Minnesota Department of Public Safety is running an emergency preparedness drill Tuesday at Prairie Island Nuclear Plant in Red Wing, MN that involves Pierce County in Wisconsin.
It will help to make sure government agencies can adequately protect people in the community if there is an incident at the nuclear plant. Crews will be asked to show “versatility and accuracy” in responding to the random scenario.
The Federal Department of Homeland Security requires that nuclear plants run an exercise like this one every other year. The DHS will evaluate it, and discuss the results Friday in Red Wing, MN.
