Scam artists target Jackson County

JACKSON COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU)--Police say if it's too good to be true, It most likely is.

Jackson County Sheriff's Department is investigating a recent string of money scams.

Police say scammers contact the victims by phone, saying they have won a large cash prize. But to claim the price they need to pay a small fee first.

Scam artists often ask people to put money on a "Green Dot Money Pak" found locally at Wal-Mart, or use mail money order.

If you believe you are a victim of a scammer you can contact the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, or the FBI.
