WEAT SALEM, Wis. (WEAU) -- An area school district has taken a step towards trying to solve their overcrowding problem.
The West Salem school board voted unanimously to have a preliminary designs drawn up for a new grade 4 through 8 building.
The potential school would be located east of their current high school.
By adding grades 4 and 5 to the new building, it would help elevate overcrowding issues at their elementary school.
Board Vice President, Thomas Helgeson says the board also voted to look into uses for the middle school the students would be leaving.
He says they plan on heading to a referendum next spring.
