(WEAU) - The Eau Claire School District says it will lease an empty school to Eau Claire Lutheran Schools Incorporated.
Monday night, the Eau Claire School Board met in closed session to talk about what the superintendent calls the first solid proposal to lease Little Red Elementary School. The Eau Claire School Board voted unanimously to lease the building for the cost of getting the school up and running, plus annual expenses.
It still has to negotiate a final lease agreement to figure out a total cost.

(WEAU) - The Eau Claire School District could finish a deal to lease one of its empty buildings as soon as next month.
Monday night, the Eau Claire School Board is meeting in closed session to talk about what the superintendent calls the first solid proposal to lease Little Red Elementary School. He says the group first expressed interest in housing its business in Little Red in June, but wouldn't name the group.
Now it's a matter of figuring out whether it would bring in enough money to justify re-opening the building.
Eau Claire Area School District Superintendent Ron Heilmann said "At the same time, we need to have the discussion about our current and future early learning needs and might we also want to recoup some dollars if we are needing to look at leasing facilities for those needs.”
The school board decided to close little red in 2008 to save money.
