School district sued for denying enrollment
The superintendent of the Oregon School District says it's ready to defend itself against a lawsuit filed after it denied enrollment to a student who was expelled from a Janesville school.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- The superintendent of the Oregon School District says it's ready to defend itself against a lawsuit filed after it denied enrollment to a student who was expelled from a Janesville school.
Dr. Brian Busler says the district followed state law in denying enrollment. Disability Rights Wisconsin attorney Jeffrey Spitzer-Resnick says the state law that allows school districts to deny enrollment to students expelled by another district is unconstitutional.
He says that by denying an education to hundreds of students a year, the state is increasing the chances they'll end up in prison.
Documents say the middle school student was expelled after serving suspensions for allegations of sexual assault and possessing tobacco. The complaint says the student denies the charges.
