Police release name of person of interest in high-speed chase

Chippewa County Deputies working with the River Falls Police Department and Eau Claire County Sheriff's Office have identified a person of interest in this investigation.

Eric T. Hall is identified as a 39-year-old white male, 5'10", 172 lbs. with brown hair and blue eyes. This subject was observed at the Eau Claire Travel Center in Chippewa County putting fuel in the stolen vehicle he was operating shortly before the pursuit originated.

On Friday, 6/13/2014, after the subject fled from the stolen vehicle, Chippewa and Eau Claire County deputies, Eau Claire Police Department Canine Unit and the Wisconsin State Patrol Air Unit thoroughly searched the area and did not locate the suspect. We are asking for the public's assistance in located this person of interest. If you see this subject do not approach and contact your local law enforcement agency.

Early Saturday morning, Chippewa County investigated a stolen vehicle report in the same area of the county where the suspect was last seen. The vehicle taken was a black 1999 Dodge 1500 Ran truck with Wisconsin Registration FS6001. This stolen vehicle report may be related the the pursuit and stolen vehicle from River Falls.

This incident remains under investigation.


EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- The search is on in Eau Claire county for the driver of a stolen vehicle.

Chippewa County deputies tell us they were chasing the vehicle, which was reported stolen in River Falls, in Chippewa County.

The driver then drove it into the ditch near the intersection of 140th Avenue and St. Bridget Drive in Eau Claire County, got out, and ran off.

Eau Claire police dogs, a Wisconsin State Patrol airplane, and several deputies from both Chippewa and Eau Claire County are searching for the driver.

They ask everyone living in that area to lock their doors and cars until an arrest is made.
