Several people injured in chain-reaction crash in Jackson County

BLACK RIVER FALLS, Wis. (WEAU) -- Investigators believe alcohol and speed factored into a chain-reaction crash that left several people hurt.

It happened on Saturday afternoon on County Road K in the Jackson County Town of Komensky, which is south of Hatfield. The driver of a vehicle that was pulling a boat and trailer was trying to find a safe place to pull over because the trailer had a flat tire. That's when the Jackson County Sheriff's Office says the driver of a suspect vehicle that was going north on highway K hit a third vehicle, and caromed into the truck and trailer.

The suspect vehicle caught fire, and people nearby put out the flames. Several people were hurt, including the driver of the suspect vehicle.
