(WEAU)-Several crashes on Tuesday send several people to the hospital and left one person dead.
Wisconsin State Patrol says on Tuesday in Monroe County, around 10:50 p.m. on I-94 eastbound near Warrens, Mariah Williams, 21, from St. Paul, MN swerved to miss a deer. The vehicle rolled several times, coming to a rest on its tires, facing the wrong direction in the left lane of traffic. Three occupants in the vehicle were taken to Tomah Memorial Hospital. Later, two of them were taken via medflight to Gunderson Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse.
Williams and passenger Shirley Carter, 49, from Minneapolis, MN had non-life threatening injuries. Passenger Latrice Jones, 20, of Bloomington, MN and Ruthie Drescher, 26, had life threatening injuries.
In Taylor County on Tuesday night around 9:30, deputies got a call of a car in the ditch on County Highway E about one mile south of Park Road in the Township of Westboro.
Deputies say after assessing the scene, a brief search was conducted and a man was found. Deputies say it looks like the driver, David Mularczyk, 27, of Kennan and lone occupant of the car, had been driving south on County Highway E when the car left the road, entered the east ditch, overturned multiple times and broke off several trees about 15 feet in the air. Mularczyk was thrown from the car.
It’s believed that speed and alcohol are contributing factors to the crash.
In Pierce County on Tuesday, deputies say they were notified of a one vehicle rollover around 11:40 p.m. on State Highway 35, north of County Road VV. The driver, Bryan L. Hemstad, 31, of Hager City, was trapped inside the vehicle and it was on fire. Hager got out of the vehicle and it was fully engulfed.
Deputies had been southbound when it left the road and rolled several times. The driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated and was taken to a hospital with undetermined injuries.
