CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WEAU) -- An area sheriff's department wants to let the community know about a registered sex offender who's about to be placed in Cornell.
The Chippewa County Sheriff's Department says Walter Lange, 39, is expected to be released around September 19 to a home at 20958 190th Street in Cornell. The State of Wisconsin will monitor Lange electronically, and he won't be allowed to have unsupervised contact with children.
The Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry shows that Lange was convicted of Second Degree Sexual Assault of a Child in Rusk County in 1994. Court records show that, in May 2012, Lange was also found Guilty but Not Guilty Due to Mental Disease or Defect in Chippewa County in the sexual assault a child under age 16. Another similar charge was dismissed in that case.
