MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke says road rage led a motorcyclist to shoot at another vehicle on a busy freeway, injuring the driver with flying glass.

Clarke told reporters the rage stemmed from who was going to be able to enter the freeway first. He says the suspect, a 35-year-old Milwaukee man, could face charges of attempted homicide and possession of a firearm by a felon.

The shooting about 7:30 a.m. Monday shut down part of Highway 41 southbound at Interstate 94 and tied up traffic near Miller Park for several hours.

Authorities say the motorcyclist eventually crashed into a median wall. Officers arrived as he tried to walk away and tossed his gun into the median. He was taken to a hospital for a blood draw.
