NEILLSVILLE, Wis. (CLARK COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT NEWS RELEASE) -- Due to the failure of a spillway levy, an uncontrolled release of water from Sherwood Lake in Southeastern Clark County is taking place. This release does not present any residential threat due to the slow rate of release. Because of this release of water, access to Sherwood Lake is being closed. Clark County Forestry and Parks officials have been in contact with the Department of Natural Resources regarding the incident and are receiving assistance from them in the response to the situation. The Department of Natural Resources has ordered an immediate drawdown of the lake.

People should not venture out onto the ice for any reason.
Clark County officials are monitoring the situation and will provide updates as necessary.
