Shops "popping up" in Eau Claire

(WEAU) - While some areas of business downtown are struggling, one type of store is starting to "pop up" in Eau Claire.

Alicia Hashlamoun opened Pilar Fashions this month on Barstow Street near downtown. It's a pop up shop, meaning she only sets up the small store for a month at a time.

Hashlamoun lives in California, but is an Eau Claire native and says she decided since she was coming home for the holidays, she would bring her shop with her.

She says she's thrilled with the response she's gotten in Eau Claire. "It has been great. I am definitely surprised by how well it went in Eau Claire. I only had to do a little bit of marketing and I’m really surprised. I'll definitely come back in the spring."
