Sister wants Stacy Peterson declared legally dead

BOLLINGBROOK, Ill. (WEAU) -- There's a new development in the Stacy Peterson case.

Peterson's sister, Cassandra Cales, plans to file paperwork to declare her legally dead. The Illinois mother of two vanished nearly seven years ago. Cales says she wants Peterson declared dead so it's known that she didn't run off. Her estranged husband, Drew Peterson, claimed she ran off with another man in 2007.

Drew Peterson is a former Bolingbrook, IL police sergeant. He was convicted in September 2012 of first-degree murder in the death of his third wife, Kathleen Savio. Drew Peterson has never been charged in the disappearance of Stacy Peterson.
