Smoking power line causes traffic detour in Eau Claire

(WEAU) - Crews were called out to a smoking power line late Tuesday afternoon in Eau Claire, causing detours for traffic.

Fire crews responded just before 5 p.m. Tuesday afternoon where smoke was coming from about a city block's worth of power lines along Maple Street in Eau Claire near 3rd Street.

Crews had to shut down about 2 blocks of Maple Street and 2 blocks of 3rd Street while crews took care of the problem. Xcel energy de-energized the lines and fixed the issue in about a half hour.

Nobody was hurt.
