Snow day brings families together

EAU CLAIRE, Wis (WEAU) --Many area school districts were forced to cancel school Monday because the roads were too dangerous for buses in the morning. But while the snow kept kids out of school it didn’t keep the kids inside.

“I feel like we are going to go down one time and get bored but we are trying it,” said North High School student Kelsey Waughtil.

The snow day not just giving kids a break from school but a rare chance for parents to spend a little extra time with their kids.

“It's not every day you get to spend a Monday home with your family,” said, father of two, Tim Stone.

Tim says he enjoyed having help clearing the drive way this morning.

“I was sliding my sleigh around and it made a track,” said 4-year old Hannah Stone.

Hannah and her brothers Caleb’s reward for the helping their dad was a trip to the library to pick out a movie.

“I wanted them to have fun,” said Tim.

Whether families chose to stay inside, play in the snow or a little of both; the snow day was about spending time together.

“They've been begging and dying to go sledding all morning and we made them wait a little and we finally got out here and they love it,” said Holly Poppe

“It’s been good I wiped out twice already though,” said Taylor Tauschner.
