Snowmobile rider's body found during search

HAYWARD, Wis. (SAWYER COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT NEWS RELEASE) - On Monday, December 24, 2012, at 5:06 a.m. the Sawyer County Sheriff's Office Dispatch received a call stating that Steven Sisko had gone snowmobiling on the Chippewa Flowage and had not returned home. Sawyer County Deputies were dispatched to the scene and a search was organized. Shortly after 11:00 a.m. Lifelink Helicopter reported seeing what looked like a hole in the ice and someone lying in it.

Members of the City of Hayward Fire Department responded by airboat to the scene and located Steven Sisko in the water and he was deceased. Agencies assisting in the search were Sawyer County Search & Rescue, Lifelink Helicopter, Round Lake Ambulance, Round Lake Fire Department, City of Hayward Fire Department, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the Sawyer County Sheriff's Office.
