(WEAU) -- A homeless shelter reached a milestone today. The Sojourner House in downtown Eau Claire says it has surpassed 10,000 total stays at the shelter.
The 40 bed shelter opened in November of last year. It says this summer the shelter has been at capacity almost every night.
A man who has stayed at Sojourner described to us all the ways the shelter can help the homeless.
"It's very beneficial, like say people on the streets, they can come here and get a fresh bed, fresh food, fresh shower," said Joshua Gunter.
"They have clean mattresses, they have stuff for your hair, bodywash, they got clean sheets. They even have towels you can use. It is just very beneficial."
Sojourner House says it has served more than 300 different people since since opening its doors.
