"Spark the Spirit of Giving" event teaches about volunteering

EAU CLAIRE (WEAU) - People in Eau Claire were getting into the giving spirit Monday night.

It was the "Spark the Spirit of Giving" service night held at Chippewa Valley Technical College, sponsored by the City of Eau Claire. It was a chance for families to get together and learn about volunteering.

People were coloring pictures for the food bank, making tie blankets to be handed out in the community and making sandwiches for the Sojourner House, among others.

Volunteer Coordinator Roberta Kostka says “The people that are here for those different service agencies are answering questions and giving out information about what they have to offer for volunteering opportunities. So some people have just come just to get information.”

Kostka says they had a good turnout, including many families, a 4-H group, Girls Scout troops and city employees.
