Special Olympics team heads to state

(WEAU) - Several students and faculty got together to send-off a Special Olympics team Friday.

A pep rally was held at North High School in Eau Claire for the Special Olympics team. The basketball team, known as the Eau Claire Slammer, is headed to the state tournament in Oshkosh.

They'll play two games Saturday, and one on Sunday.

Their head coach Brett Kleinke says it great to see so much support. "It means the world to them and to us coaches and staff here at school. It's awesome to see almost the entire school here cheering them on and wishing them luck."

The Eau Claire Slammers have a record of 5-1 this year so far.
