Special delivery: A musical message of love this Valentine's Day

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) - Love is in the air this Valentine's Day as well as the sounds of love. Local singers are making their way from office to office and home to home to deliver Valentine serenades.

Jessiann Coldwell of Fall Creek was one of several lucky recipients in the area. She was greeted by local singer Joe Burger at her home and serenaded to "You Are So Beautiful," as arranged by her fiance.

You could call Burger a traveling, singing cupid with the Eau Claire Regional Arts Center.

"It's exciting. It's rewarding! I'm doing this as a volunteer basis, for me it just feels good to spread a little joy and happiness on Valentine's Day," said Burger.

The center is trying to raise money for its many different programs and events.

"It's just been a great response from people they're really excited to send kind of a little love-gram to people at office buildings to their homes," said marketing director of ECRAC Jamie Kane.

With 18 singing Valentine telegrams to deliver, Kane says the reaction from the recipients is priceless.

"Surprised, shocked, mostly embarrassment. I think people really do appreciate their loved ones when they get something like this but on the same note, you can't help but feel embarrassed to be brought out in front of everybody in this kind of sense," said Burger.

Even the WEAU 13 News newsroom got a surprise from another traveling Valentine's group, the Sunshine Express Quartet with the Dunn County Barbershoppers.

The group was traveling all around from Durand all the way to Eau Claire, singing and delivering roses to women and even some men.

If you want to watch the Dunn County Barbershoppers in their 44th annual show "Sweet Freedom's Song," they're performing on Saturday, APril 13th at 7:30 p.m. at Martin ANderson Gymnasium in Colfax.
