CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WEAU) A group of local elementary school students is learning about friendship and community through a program called "Circle of Friends."
The program pairs students who need extra help with fifth grade mentors.
After 'speed skating' on paper plates around the gym this morning, the kids at Parkview Elementary School in Chippewa Falls donated several blankets to the foster care program at Lutheran Social Services.
Students say it feels good to lend a helping hand.
"It's very cool being a part of it because you meet new kids and it feels like you're helping them out because maybe they dont have that many friends...It feels good because you know that they know that you made them, maybe if they see you around town they will say thank you," says 5th Grader Emerson Haen.
Eighty-five Parkview students are part of the program. They tied the fleece blankets as part of an activity over the fall and winter.
