CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WEAU) – A local hospital had a chance to say 'thank you' to the farming community on Monday in Chippewa Falls.

The friends of St. Joseph's Hospital held the 11th annual Farm Family Event.

The free event featured a lunch, health screenings and keynote speaker Royce Boyles.

Boyles has written several books on Vince Lombardi and the Green Bay Packers.

"I really admire people who have stayed in the agriculture business. I think one of the sadness’s in our state is that so many of the family farms have gone out and the saddest part about that is kids don't get to be raised on farms anymore,” said Boyles.

Boyles says he was born on a farm near Wisconsin Rapids and grew up in rural areas most of his life.
