State patrol urges drivers to delay travel

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- The Wisconsin State patrol is now discouraging drivers from traveling during the winter storm.

In an email Thursday afternoon with the subject line "STAY HOME," Commander Jeffrey Frenette urges drivers to delay travel plans for a time when conditions improve. It says reduced visibility, icy roads, and snow accumulation are creating hazardous travel conditions. The email also says troopers are responding to "a number of crashes."

The email says that it's "for your safety and ours." You can find road condition updates at the link on the right side of this story.
