State-run shooting range is closer to expanding

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (AP) -- A state-run shooting range is a big step closer to expanding.

This after the National Rifle Association donated nearly 15-thousand dollars to make improvements to the snake track public shooting range up north, in Iron County.

It also donated a pair of 25-thousand dollar grants to two other Wisconsin ranges.

The DNR says all three grants will be matched 3-to-1 from federal grants.

Those grant revenues are taxes that shooters and hunters pay on ammunition and equipment.
