Stick with your New Year's resolution

It’s one thing to have a New Year’s resolution, but it’s another to keep one.

Gundersen Health System wellness education specialist Jessica Boland said often when people set a new year’s resolution, they don’t figure out how they’re going to achieve it.

She said you should write down your resolution, come up with a plan of what you’re going to do each week to reach it and set a time frame of when you want to meet your goal.

Boland said you should also evaluate where you’re at each week, and make sure your goal is specific and realistic.

“Sometimes people set out to achieve their goal, and they realize that it’s hard to change and can become frustrated and want to easily give up,” said Boland.

Boland said it’s also a good idea to tell a friend or loved one that you’ve made a New Year’s resolution, so they can support you.
